About
Erin
Erin
earned her Master’s of Science degree in Oriental
Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe,
New Mexico. She is a Nationally Certified Diplomat in
Oriental Medicine, Chinese Herbs, and Acupuncture (NCCAOM),
and holds a license with the California State Acupuncture
board. She has received specialized training in Women’s
health issues, her specialty, as well as chronic pain
management, immuno-deficiency disorders, sleep disorders,
Emotional concerns (such as stress, anxiety, depression,
and bi-polar disorder), and facial rejuvenation. She is
also very interested in what is know as the Inner Tradition
of Chinese Medicine, which focuses largely on our ability
to live our destiny, and how this can affect physical
as well as emotional health.
Prior
to her training in Chinese Medicine, Erin received her
M.A. in Art Education and Creativity from San Francisco
State University and her B.A. in Liberal Studies from
the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State.
After this, she developed and managed CreArte –
Retreat for the Arts in Costa Rica with two partners.
The retreats were developed to offer educational vacations
with the intent of facilitating creativity and artistic
expression.
Erin
opened her Acupuncture practice in Santa Rosa, CA in October
of 2008. Prior to this she worked as an acupuncturist
for Royal Caribbean cruise lines. “It was a great
experience, but I wanted to work with patients for longer
term care, to really get the results that Chinese Medicine
can offer.”
Her
specialty is in Women’s Health concerns.
“I
believe that disease is a result of long held patterns
of disharmony that may come from many sources, including
physical traumas, pathogens, emotional disturbances, and
long-held thought patterns All of these factors influence
the body in a negative way, and the body holds these patterns
until they are released. Acupuncture is a powerful tool
to correct these negative patterns and establish a healthy,
vibrant flow through he body’s energy system.
With
the use of acupuncture and herbs I am able to help restore
balance to the body and stimulate the body’s own
natural healing mechanisms.”
“I have always been interested in the human enigma
and the quest that we all have for health, well-being,
and inner contentment. I began my search to help humankind
with art therapy and art education – my intention
being to help people (and myself) find balance and freedom
of self-expression.
I
became interested in Chinese Medicine after having several
treatments myself, and noticing the marked decrease in
anxiety and restlessness. My life changed and I was finally
able to accomplish things that I had previously been unable
to do. Throughout my studies and up to now, I always come
back to the connection of the emotional, spiritual, and
physical beings. I am very interested in the Inner Tradition
of Chinese Medicine, which focuses on the idea of destiny
and well-being. If we are living our destiny, we are less
susceptible to illness.
My
practice has been informed not only by my amazing teachers
from China, but also by Lonny Jarrett, author of “Nourishing
Destiny”, and Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist
master and renowned expert in the field, who teaches about
the Eight Extra-ordinary meridians as giving access to
healing our existential concerns. What interests me most
about Chinese medicine is that, with the use of needles
and herbs, one can experience a healthy and satisfying
life, encompassing the physical, emotional, and spiritual
elements of our being.”
